Spriorad Damhsa Irish Dancers
Spriorad Damhsa Irish Dancers is a performance Irish dance group that no longer participates in formal competition but instead focuses on creating powerful, artistic performances and fostering an atmosphere of acceptance and creativity. Spriorad Damhsa is a Gaelic phrase, which translates to “Spirit of the Dance”. While competition is a healthy outlet for some, the group’s dancers prefer to participate in their heritage without the added pressure and negativity of having their hard earned skills formally judged and quantified by a single governing body. The group has a unique style, performing jigs, hornpipes and reels to traditional Irish music, we also perform to modern music, including works by Enya, Altan and the Cranberries. Instructors of Spriorad Damhsa are Sheila Lowry and Anne Mullen, who both have over 25 years of competitive Irish dance experience as well as 10 years running their own competitive school, St Brigids Cross.
